ARTIST STATEMENT
I have been doing photography for over 10 years. I have come to the realization that ART is everywhere.
My photographs represent the world around us. Earlier work was focused on architecture, landscapes and nature. Today’s collection focuses on signs, graffiti, rust, abandoned properties and our urban environment. Recently, I have started to adjust the contrast, mid-tones and brightness of my photographs to create abstract photography.
My camera has allowed me to appreciate my surroundings. I have found beauty in rust on garbage dumpsters, peeled paint on a fence, a rusted sign, a discarded candy wrapper and even on old gas pump.
One artist recently commented on my work. Her response was “Your photography sells because you have experience taking pictures and have been training your eye to see things that interest others. You have good composition and it shows in your photography. You are certainly NOT a beginner.”
You can find my work at James North General Store, located at 95 James Street North in Hamilton, Ontario or at any of the festivals listed on the events page.
